歷經30餘年的長向街屋，留給屋主的除了陰暗悶濕，就是繞著樓梯上上下下的生活記憶了。
要讓這棟閒置已久的家屋活過來，我們首先規劃梯間作為與自然接觸的核心空間，將採光、溫控、通風三個要素一併整合，並且順著去整合給排水、排汙、排氣、強弱電等居住基盤設施，成功轉換了原有的空間記憶，帶來新的生活想像。
設計過程中以模型研究先行，是為了擷取真實的日光與空氣以了解其在空間中的互動關係。接著使用電腦模擬詳細檢視設計與結構、材料、視角、構造等各項關係，以求準確地掌握完成後的情境。
一樓空間配置開放式廚房與客廳相鄰，使料理成為分享生活的一部分。屋頂的採光罩帶進藍天白雲及陽光，以大自然來銘記日常生活的步調。生活的場景環繞梯間產生垂直向度的連動關係，每處空間都能因此獲得不同的個性，躺在浴缸中有專屬的天空，梯階就是自由的閱覽室。生活記憶的美好經由空間設計與改造，得以與自然環境共存，繼續延續下去。

Other than its being dim, stuffy and humid, this longitudinal house has left countless memories of the owner’s life up and down the stairs.
For this reason, we use the staircase as the initial space to get in touch with nature, including natural lighting, temperature control, and ventilation, as well as moving on to integrate facilities taking care of drainage, sewage, exhaustion, and power control to transform the original memories of the household into new imaginations in life.
We start out on analyzing the model as our first move toward the design, in order to capture real sunlight and air. Then, we use computers to simulate as well as conduct a thorough survey as to the connections among the design, structure, material, angle of view, and construction, in exchange for the precise outcome that we expect on the project. The kitchen is open to the living room so as to enable cooking to become a part of life sharing. The transparent roof tiles bring in a scene of blue sky, white clouds and sunshine, thereby nature becomes a memorandum of the steps we take in everyday life.
The various scenarios in life form a vertical relation by revolving around the stairs: every single space thereby acquires a different character—you can access your very own piece of blue sky when you lay back in the tub; the stairs is where you may freely soar through the knowledge and imagination that books can offer.
